On the programme
Following the tragic fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on 15 April 2019, the French Ministry of Culture has commissioned the Centre des monuments nationaux (CMN) to provide photographic coverage of the roofs of state-owned cathedrals in 2022, in order to keep a record of these volumes before they are likely to be re-covered to prevent the risk of fire.
Eight photographers were selected and sent out on the roads of France to carry out this vast photographic campaign. The CMN wanted to showcase this remarkable work by presenting a selection of 32 photographic prints to the public.
The cloister of Fréjus cathedral is the first national monument to host this exhibition.
The exhibition is organised by the CMN's Department of Cultural and Public Development.
